Isabelle Sapun is a Melbourne-based artist working in painting, drawing, and animation. Her work explores the vulnerability of emotion, interpersonal connection, and mental health. Distorted figures, dark colours, and use of layering combine to visualise stories of personal experiences. The thickening of her works with layers is used to expose the internal emotional depth through the visual depth. These works are to divulge inner feelings that are typically hidden in grotesque or confronting ways to resonate with others and open conversation surrounding mental health.
